“I love my child unconditionally”

I hear parents say, “I love my child unconditionally. Of course!” But are you actually loving them unconditionally?
Liking your children more when they do as you say is not loving them unconditionally. Being more pleased with your child sometimes than at other times is not loving them unconditionally.
Loving them without conditions means being the same way toward them regardless of whether or not they’ve complied with your wishes.
Using harsh words in a heated moment or taking away your acceptance of them in any given moment for any reason is the antithesis of unconditional love.
